I have been watching a series of homestyle programmes imported from canada and north america. The difference in our styles is definitely due to the geography here and there. Most of the properties I see on the tv show reflect the psace available around them. Although there are milions of comfortable ‘cookie cutter’ homes – i.e. very new, all identical, bar the individual choice of decor. These programmes could be five or six years old buyt the houses are still being built on the same lines, with huge atrium hallways; a large open concept kitchen/diner/family room. They have massive 6 or 8 burner cookers, industrial sized fridge/freezers and boot room – laundry rooms bigger than my entire kitchen. I note that the ‘beige for everything’ concept has started to move on and pops of colour are definitely the name of the game. Pale ivory silk colour walls with deliciously bright berry coloured cushions and co-ordinating soft furnishings really make their rooms zing. They take immence pride in how their homes are presented and as these homes are often double the size of ours, that is quite a lot to present!
